Part of our call as disciples is to live a life of servanthood. John 13 tells us Jesus' new command, to love one another just as I have loved you. We strive to do this both inside the church and just as, if not more so importantly, outside the walls. We offer mission events throughout the year, mission trips, service opportunities through Friendship Feast, a local meal for homeless and those on the verge of homelessness. We work closely with the New Emergency Resource Agency in Ponca City to help those with rent and utilities or with groceries as well. We serve and give because God first loves us. Our desire is to reach out and make a difference and help build God's kingdom through serving others.
Ways to serve beyond the church
we serve on the second tuesday of every month and the 3rd thursday of even numbered months. we meet at First Christian church in Ponca city at 5:15 PM at 7th and cleveland. For about an hour we feed those who come in for a meal. This reaches out to those on the verge of homelessness and those that are homeless.
Seasonal food baskets
each holy season of advent and lent we gather food for baskets for those here in Newkirk who may not be able to afford a Christmas or Easter dinner. We usually help around 30 families.
Our Mission team is hard at work and willing to take challenges to meet the needs of the community and to reach out across the world to make a difference. We meet for a pot luck on the 2nd sunday of the month after second service to plan and implement mission opportunities that are offered to the congregation and anyone that wants to be involved. If you have a passion to help serve others please come and share, it only takes a spark.
